Gates & Robert: A Classic Fall Wedding & Disco Reception

Gates and Robert married on a perfect fall weekend in Charlotte, where Gates grew up. Throughout their engagement, and as I got to know Gates, I was inspired by the thought and detail that went into every element of their wedding weekend.

Gates and her bridesmaids spent the morning getting ready in her parents’ home. Her dress, inspired by Princess Diana's traditional yet sophisticated silhouettes and timeless details, was complimented by her ballet pink Manolo Bhlaniks (as seen on Carrie Bradshaw). They held the ceremony at the nearby Presbyterian church that her parents also said their vows in 37 years prior. At the ceremony, she surprised Robert with a bag piper as a nod to their Scottish heritage—which is also where they met on a trip abroad. Following, a seated dinner and celebration was held at Charlotte Country Club, the tables beautifully set with large magnolia centerpieces to honor the South’s stately tree. The remainder of the night was spent dancing underneath a grand display of disco balls to live motown music.

The day was absolutely beautiful, but what made it even more special was witnessing the enamored love and bliss between Gates and Robert all weekend. Throughout the process of planning and photographing their engagement and wedding weekend, these two that have become dear friends to me, and I am so honored to have been able to walk alongside them to document such a monumental weekend!
