The Robinsons: A European-Style Micro-Wedding
September 2020 | Caroline and Alex’s Storybook Wedding in Memphis, Tennessee
Throughout this season of COVID-19, I’ve seen a whole new value be placed on wedding photography. It’s always an honor to spend someone’s wedding day with them—regardless of the season—as their photographer, being one of the first people to see the bride in her wedding dress, witnessing the bride and groom’s first look without anyone else, and even getting to spend one-on-one time with the bride and groom taking newlywed photos just after they marry. But these days it’s especially an honor to have the role of telling the full story of the wedding day—through photography—to the friends and family that couldn’t be there due to this unforeseen pandemic…To be the eyes for those who couldn’t be there in person.
A few details to note for this beautiful day: Caroline is an incredibly gifted artist and put a ton of care and sentiment into the details of her wedding day. Firstly, the wedding took place in her hometown of Memphis, Tennessee—no more than 10 minutes away from her childhood home. She designed her beautiful and elegant floral invitations herself, and brought along to be photographed the flowers that she had received from Alex, collected, and then dried over the years. She wore her great grandmother’s veil from 1935 (also shared by her mother and sister on their wedding days) and even added custom sleeves to her wedding dress that were removed for the reception—obsessed.
Caroline and Alex, it was an absolute honor and joy to be able to document this day. My hope is that these photos represent all of the amazing emotions that were felt on this day, and that they allow your loved ones to be a part of it, even if they weren’t there in person.
